This Chinese Lipstick Line Has Antibacterial Properties
How would you like it if you actually can get your hands on a lipstick that has antibacterial ingredients? How about lip line-reducing properties?
Qing Ping Diao, an Asian cosmetic brand , is refining ancient Chinese beauty regimens in producing lippies with antibacterial, anti-aging and moisturizing properties through the combination of Chinese medicine, ancient Chinese cosmetic recipes and fragrance-making techniques. Its latest collection of lipsticks is called Safflower Lipsticks.
Qing Ping Diao has been developed by young Chinese beauty entrepreneur Fengyuan Li. She is one of the featured businesswomen in cosmetics in the recently held virtual event Taobao Maker Festival, one of Alibaba’s most-watched events that celebrate the creativity of Taobao’s merchants. Taobao Marketplace is China’s largest mobile commerce destination. In an interview with Style Visionary Network, Fengyuan Li explained her unique approach in her cosmetic brand.
“I believe that ancient Chinese techniques for making cosmetics are unusual and hard to understand, but they are important cultural treasures that need to be cherished and preserved,” she said. “For years, these techniques have been neglected or misinterpreted. Other products on the market which claim to be based on traditional Chinese elements are often packaged with traditional Chinese visual elements, but are mostly produced in conventional ways and formulas. I wanted to create a cosmetic product that was true to the charm of ancient Chinese cosmetics, and the beauty that is reflected in the ancient techniques used to create them. I have a strong appreciation for traditional Chinese culture and the fragrances of Chinese herbs.”
Deeply rooted in an ancient Chinese treatise on agriculture called “Qimin Yaoshu”, or the Essential Techniques for the Welfare of the People, the Safflower lipstick line uses the ancient use of safflower famously known for making the lips and cheeks look ruby-colored. By recreating this ancient Chinese safflower formula, Qing Ping Diao’s Safflower Lipsticks are gentle and non-irritating on the lips when applied.
The Safflower extract in these lip products keeps the lips moisturized. It also maintains the natural color of the lips by reducing the excess melanin, which causes lip hyperpigmentation. The lippies also contain white meadowfoam seed oil, which keeps the natural luster of the lips. Bees wax has also been added to help reduce lip lines and aid in anti-aging features, while bergamot is used for fresh scent. The ingredients used have passed the pesticide residue test, which makes the Safflower lip line an animal cruelty-free beauty brand.
The Safflower Lipsticks come in two series.
The first series is the Safflower Lipstick line with three shades. The Dry Rose color is pinkish that exudes feminine and gentle charm, which is the brand’s best-seller. While the Wine Cherry color is a sharp cherry jam color suitable for pale skin tones. The third shade is Xiangfei Black Tea, which is a retro orange color for a youthful look.
Seriously, how cool is that packaging? It’s made with African blackwood. The design of the package is inspired by the ancient cosmetic design of a push-pull seal. This packaging design has actually won a national patent and the IAI International Advertising Awards in May 2019.
The second series of the Safflower Lipsticks is called Mihexiang, which refers to a traditional scent used in ancient China. This selection consists of over 95% natural pigment ingredients that possess a gentle feel designed to reduce lip lines.
These primary ingredients are red magnolia, lead trees, sweet oranges and myrtle leaves, which work together to repair and soften lips, diminish scars and provide antibacterial properties.
The Mihexiang series comes in two colors: the Crimson Pearl Grass which has a warmer orange-red tone, and Yihong Prince, which has a cooler tone of pinkish-purple.
This series is also coated with plant extracts that prevent dark spots, which are usually caused by the long-term exposure of iron-oxide found in many other lipsticks.
The Safflower Lipsticks are available in Qing Ping Diao‘s Tmall Flagship store, Taobao enterprise store and Youzan mini store.
