Pop superstar, fashion designer and beauty mogul Rihanna is officially a billionaire!
At the age of 16, the talented stunner was discovered by rap superstar Jay-Z through a demo tape. She moved to the US from her hometown in Barbados, signed a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings and never looked back. Her debut album, Music of the Sun, was a great success as it reached the top 10 spot on the Billboard albums chart.
In 2017, Rihanna launched her own cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty, with luxury goods company LVMH. Remember back in the ’90s when everyone would settle for a cakey foundation with a lighter shade no matter what your skin tone was? Well, Fenty solved the lack of diversity in beauty products singlehandedly through the launch of Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation with 40 stunning shades– something that beauty experts had failed to do decades prior. It quickly became popular due to its broad inclusivity across skin types and tones, and was named by Time Magazine as one of the best inventions that year. It led to the so-called “Fenty Effect”, where rival cosmetic brands have broadened their shade ranges for makeup products.
The rest of her fortune mostly comes from lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, worth an estimated $270 million, and her earnings from music and acting.
Rihanna is now also the world’s richest female musician, and second only to Oprah Winfrey as the world’s richest female entertainer.
Well-deserved, RiRi!
