Rapper CL and BLACKPINK’s Rosé: First K-Pop Stars at the Met Gala
Today is a historic day for K-Pop as rapper CL of 2NE1 fame and BLACKPINK’s Rosé have become the first South Korean musicians to be invited at the prestigious Met Gala in New York.
K-pop queen and rapper CL channels American fashion with a high waist Calvin Klein-like underwear, topped off with an elaborate couture made of denim– which is also reminiscent of the traditional Korean hanbok. The look is a custom Alexander Wang. She opted for a sculptural hairstyling that seemed to be inspired by traditional Korean queens, matched with her signature cat eye for her beauty look.
Meanwhile, Rosé donned a Saint Laurent dress with bow and over-accessorized with jewels. The singer has been the ambassador of the French fashion house for more than a year now.
Both artists started their careers with YG label. CL did not renew her contract with YG though in 2019, and revamped her journey as a solo artist after the disbandment of her iconic group 2NE1.
