MANILA, Philippines — Filipino fashion photographer Gerald Gloton commemorated the resilience of Filipinos during the June 1991 Mt.Pinatubo eruption through an editorial shoot at Pampanga Megadike.
Gloton shared the images on Facebook, writng in the caption, “31 years after the submersion from the wrath of Mt. Pinatubo, the Kapampangan spirit lives on and thrives through mitigation and resilience.”
He added in the caption, “Shot at the iconic 56 km FVR Megadike, the province’s lahar shield which was completed in 1997, our muses braved the heavy rains during the production just as our fellow cabalens safeguard their families from the ashfall in 1991.”
Gloton’s models are clothed in off-white dresses with fringes, which were designed by Filipino fashion designer Pat Trinidad as styled by Jae Nelle.
Models Trisha Soto and Tey Simon were glammed up by makeup artist Anna Tiglao.
Indeed, the art of fashion editorial is far stronger when it sends an important message, such as this one which commemorates the strenght of humans when facing a tragedy — reminding us all that life can be tough, but we are tougher.
