From February 14 to 18, New York Fashion Week presented virtual presentations from various fashion designers and clothing lines through live streaming for its Fall/Winter 2021 season. The timely and practical approach truly let the viewers into the new phase of runway shows. Here are a few that truly captivated us with their refreshing aesthetics and concepts:
RaisaVanessa
Raisa & Vanessa Sason are twin sisters who studied costume design at the London College of Fashion. They created RAISAVANESSA in 2011 after their study, developing a modern and empowering style of clothing for women.
For the brand’s Fall/Winter ‘21 Collection, the duo shared that the inspiration was about “speaking to the dilemma of time, the collision of an end and a beginning”. The futuristic runway backdrop truly gave a sci-fi chic vibe, which was a nice contrast to the wearability of the high style pieces:
Markarian NYC
Markarian NYC founder and designer Alexandra O’Neill recently gained a lot of press for designing US First Lady Jill Biden’s custom-made blue coat and matching face mask during the historic Inauguration Day.
Alexandra O’Neill founded luxury womenswear label Markarian in 2017. Named after a particularly radiant grouping of galaxies, Markarian combines Alexandra’s love of celestial romanticism with timeless design and modern grace. Her designs have been worn by Kate Hudson, Constance Wu, Kerry Washington, Priyanka Chopra, Lizzo and Thandie Newton– to name a few.
For her NYFW Autumn/Winter 2021 collection, O’Neill was inspired by the art and architecture of the ancient Rome. Check out our fave baroque-inspired designs from her NYFW collection:
Draped silhouettes and structured, column-like details were note-worthy in this collection. Pieces are now available for pre-orders on @modaoperandi.

Jason Wu
Taiwanese-Canadian fashion designer Jason Wu has been known for merging classic American sportswear elements with a refined couture sensibility.
His latest NYFW fashion presentation had “Mr. Wu General Store” as its backdrop, a fashion presentation with a Sunday market concept. From fringes, leather coats to Coca-Cola printed dresses, Jason Wu definitely made high fashion wearable yet still regal.
