Manila, Philippines — Michael Leyva, a celebrated Filipino fashion designer and well-loved bridal couturier, is set to light up the historic National Museum of Natural History with his new collection.
The new line is meant to celebrate the designer’s 10th anniversary, showcasing edgy couture pieces in black.
In a social media post, Leyva teased his new collection dubbed as “Hiraya” — an ancient Tagalog term that means “fruit of one’s hopes, dreams, and aspirations”.
In previous media interviews, Micheal shared he did not plan to be a designer as he used to be a flight attendant with Philippine Airlines. But in 2010, his life changed forever because of the sudden demise of his older brother, Brian. The tribulation prompted the younger Leyva to continue the atelier Brian started. Since then, Leyva has been catering to high-profile clienteles Such as Sen. Grace Poe, Rep. Maryln Alonte Naguiat, Kris Aquino, and Vice President Leni Robredo.
The teaser images of the new collection were shot by Rozen Antonio in Dubai.
The “Hiraya” collection will be showcased in gal fashion night at the National Museum of Natural History on October 10, 2022. The event is strictly by-invite only.
