Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière presented the first Southeast Asian spin-off runway show of Louis Vuitton with its Women’s Spring/Summer 2021 showcase in Singapore last March 23. The luxury house’s S/S21 collection for women was first shown in Paris last October 2020, while its spin-off in SG was marked as the first physical-digital fashion show of LV since the global pandemic.
The runway show was presented at the ArtScience Museum in Marina Bay Sands, where art and science are celebrated in the form of innovation and new ideas. The iconic skyline of Singapore acted as the perfect backdrop for the show.
New bags have been added this season, as well as reinterpretations of the brand’s iconic models. A total of 67 womenswear looks were featured, including a capsule of summery brights and pastels inspired by the beach.
Nicolas Ghesquière described the collection as “stepping into a territory where gender is erased, and creative possibilities are endless”.
Dubbed a “phygital” show, the physical runway event attended by 112 guests was also live-streamed to an online audience. In the Philippines, Louis Vuitton collaborated with Mega Magazine through a virtual event and online watch party with EIC Peewee Reyes-Isidro and multihyphenate star Anne Curtis via a Facebook live. The Filipina-Aussie actress also posed for the magazine’s branded fashion editorial shoot.
During Mega Magazine’s virtual event, Anne shared her insight on what a Louis Vuitton woman is. “I would have to say, is confident. She’s bold, free-spirited, adventurous. But at the same time, she prefers to find quality when it comes to fashion. It has to be timeless and it lasts throughout the years.”
