Korean Cultural Center Launches New Cultural Classes This July

MANILA, Philippines — Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig is introducing its new lineup of cultural classes for this season.

KCC has scheduled its new learning sessions in cooking, Korean traditional dance and Taekwondo in its new building at 59 Bayani Road, Taguig City starting July 20. The classes have been selected due to their popular demand from the center’s visitors and general public.

The cooking class will be taught by KCC’s Teacher Lily Min, who has also handled previous cooking sessions at the center. The new line of classes will be held in KCC’s new cooking classroom and will teach 16 students per class.

The curriculum will tackle different Korean food cooking techniques, as well as the history and social culture of Korea through food. Interested participants can select the menu they wanna learn for 8 weeks upon registration.

KCC’s Teacher Kim Hyo Jun, who is the President of Korea Taekwondo Association in the Philippines, will handle the Taekwondo classes. The classes will be held in KCC’s new K-Studio and will teach 30 students in total. There will be 2 sessions of Taekwondo classes on Saturday and 30 students will have a level test on the first day to divide the group into 2 sessions.

The Taekwondo classes will explore the deeply rooted discipline and martial arts centered in Korean culture. They also include the strengthening of the mind and the body and learning the etiquette associated with it.

Meanwhile, the Korean traditional dance will be taught by KCC’s Teacher Jo Jang Eun, who has handled the previous traditional dance classes too. The sessions will be held in KCC’s new K-Studio and will teach 15 students in total on Saturday.

There will be one session a week and the curriculum will teach the history and social culture of Korea through its music and dance, particularly Buchaechum or “Fan Dance” which draws influences from traditional Korean folk dances.

All cultural classes will be held from July 20, 2022 to September 17, 2022.

The students will be selected from a first round of screening from applications on a first slot basis. The forms will be released on KCC’s official Facebook accounts on July 13. No fees will be paid by any student for the whole duration of the semester, and materials needed for the classes such as ingredients, uniforms and gears are also provided for by the center.
