We are all still transitioning to the digital process of all our work tasks right at the comfort of our homes. The pandemic is as stressful as it is already, and then add the continuous adjustment to working from home, and everything can be too much to take all in.
But everything seems better while you are in a good set of cool, comfy and stylish loungewear.
With these unique loungewear pieces beautifully created by talented Filipino fashion designers, there’s no need to choose one between good presentation or comfort. Because you can have the best of both worlds with these awesome finds:
Anika by Anika Martinez
“Infinite wearability for the fuss-free feminine”
That’s Anika‘s design philosophy. As a woman who prefers fuss-free, feminine style myself, this brand got me instantly hooked. Anika was founded by Filipina FIDM Los Angeles alumna Anika Martirez. The designer has described her creations as ‘elevated essentials,’ pieces that every woman should own in their closet and could wear all year round on heavy rotation. What’s also impressive about the brand is its sense of sustainability, as the production upholds the practice of slow fashion.
“We want to uphold slow fashion by being thoughtful yet prolific about each design, keeping our quantities limited in volume, and producing as little waste as possible by upcycling excess fabrics and repurposing them, for instance. We want to be mindful of our design process. Good things take time,” the designer shared.
Four Cranes by Sisters Jam and Janine Sanciangco
“Upgraded basics that you can be effortlessly confident in.”
Four Cranes is refreshingly modern and sophisticated, yet effortless in achieving. What struck me the most is that the brand stays true to its Filipino roots, using local materials sourced from different parts of the Philippines. The elegance of the pieces stands out to me, as well as its stylish wearability. The creations have that vibe of a certain subtle confidence, and that’s the kind of energy I would want to wear while working at home.
Kaayo Modern Mindanao by Marga Montemayor Nograles and her mother Mary Ann Montemayor
“Weaving the best of tradition and trends to come up with notable pieces from Mindanao.”
How cool are those purple satin jammies that you can glam up in both at home and events? Seriously, tradition meets trends with Kaayo. The name of the brand means “kindness”, and aims to highlight the artistic design presentations of Mindanao. Kaayo serves as the fashion platform for the exquisite traditional weaves of the T’boli tribe of South Cotabato, the Bagobo-Tagabawa of Mount Apo as well as other region-based designers, tailors, seamsters and seamstresses. Fashionable and formal, yet flowy and comfy, Kaayo brilliantly represents the beauty of the Filipino culture.
These uniquely fashionable loungewear ensembles are instant pick-me-uppers and all you need to feel inspired, keeping you relaxed and looking presentable as you hustle at your home.
