Manila, Philippines — British Vogue-approved Filipina jewelry designer Denise Tobler has just introduced the premiere baby collection of her awe-inspiring jewelry brand Devaluchi Joeillerie.

Denise Ching-Tobler and her topnotch jewelry brand Devaluchi Joaillerie have been recognized by global upscale publications such as Condé Nast Traveller, Tatler UK and British Vogue for her combination of quirky, whimsical, classic and romantic jewelry pieces that she designs herself.

Denise took up Fashion Design and Merchandising program at the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde. She then took up short courses on jewelry design and appraisal at Gemological Laboratory of the Philippines. Afterwards, she ventured to Hong Kong to study Gemology at the Gemological Institute of America.

Jewelry brand Devaluchi Joaillerie “has been inspired by modern architecture, natural surroundings, and unique jewelry pieces abroad” for unique, out-of-the-box jewelry pieces handcrafted by talented local artisans. The pieces “exude daintiness, modernity and panache, and all about experimentation, setting itself apart from the traditional and the ordinary.”

“I remember sitting at the very back of the classroom just to make accessories for my classmates,” Denise shared, recalling that she has always loved wearing and creating shiny things.

Now as a new mother herself, the designer has decided to create beautiful jewelry pieces for babies as well. The new series is inspired by her lovely daughter, no less.

“I decided to launch a baby jewelry line because I was inspired by my daughter Lucia! I wanted to create lots of jewelry pieces for her, and also to cater to mothers who appreciate art jewelry pieces for their babies,” Denise shared.

Devaluchi Joaillerie baby jewelry line comes in earrings, bracelets in sweet, girly designs.

Kalmen-Kalmen Jewelry

What is unique about the Devaluchi Joaillerie baby jewelry line is its Kalmen-Kalmen collection, inspired by the Philippine culture of anti-usog and kontra-bati.

“When my daughter was born, my mother-in-law gave my precious daughter an anti-usog and kontra-bati, or kalmen-kalmen red pouch charm & bracelet to protect her against negative energy, ” Tobler said. “It is believed that comments or compliments from other people will cause the baby to become sickly. That was the first time that I heard of such a thing!”

“It was so interesting and I find the pouch and bracelet cute. Also one time I remember scrolling through Instagram and I came across the Momzilla Fair. I thought to myself , ‘Why don’t I sell baby earrings and a fabulous version Kalmen-Kalmen on that fair?’ So I started to do my further research about the kalmen-kalmen. I started designing my own version, and then I started manufacturing a few. We launched the product at the Momzilla Fair last March,” she added.

“Luckily, our anti-usog and kontra-bati collection was a success. We got a lot of inquiries, a lot purchased from us, and we had great feedback.”

The anti-usog and anti-bati jewelry pieces exude class  with Denise’s sophisticated designs.

“It is super interesting that our Philippine culture has lots of beliefs. One of them is giving protection to our babies. That says a lot about us Filipinos being so creative and caring to our loved ones,” she said.

“Other than our anti-usog and kontra-bati pouch charm and bracelet, we do offer lots of baby earrings with a screw back featuring to protect our babies from easily taking them off. Our earrings are lightweight, originally designed by yours truly and is made of 18 karat yellow gold featuring diamonds, and other colored stones,” she concluded.
