BLACKPINK Rosé’s ‘On The Ground’: Her Designer Outfits

Five years after the debut of K-Pop supergroup BLACKPINK, Korean-Australian member Rosé has finally launched her own music as a solo singer. As of this writing, the music video of her instant hit “On The Ground” released last March 12 has an astounding 90.2 million views on YouTube.

The no-nonsense song talks about a great love lost, a heartbreaking loss that stings for the songwriter all the more amidst the seemingly isolating feeling of success and fame– making her realize that everything she needed all along is after all just “on the ground”.

While the song no doubt exposes the admirable vulnerability and creativity of the artist, it’s hard not to gasp at the style aspect of the video. Brilliantly combining grunge and glam, YG Entertainment’s styling department has yet again proven its storytelling prowess through fashion.

We did a little digging and found the exact outfits Rosé wore in her solo MV:

1.Majestic in Magenta

Rosé opens the video with high fashion sophistication in a magenta tube gown by Australian fashion designer Alex Perry. The black thin scarf toned down the glam of the couture cleverly.

This gown is later on paired with a Saint Laurent motorcycle jacket for that extra kick of grunge. To complete the look, she sports towering platform combat boots from Dolls Kill.

2.Rock Chick

The singer’s crystal-embellished bodysuit is by Georgia-born and London-based designer David Koma, known for working as Mugler’s creative director before focusing on his eponymous label. It’s accessorized with a corset belt and topped off with a large black puffer.

The look is later on embellished with a long, feathery tulle train. She also rocked some knee-high Azalea Wang combat boots.

3.Sexy in Sequined Bodysuit

Pulling in some high fashion theatrics,  Rosé stuns in a sequined bodysuit from the Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection of Vietnamese designer Cong Tri, accessorized with a veil and asymmetrical skirt.

4.Fashion Drama Queen

Can’t expect to have a full on K-Pop fashion moment without a South Korean style creation.

This bodysuit is from SK brand Bridal Kong, capped off with a mini ruffled skirt from American clothing line Haleia.

5.Jean Paul Gaultier

Her teaser looks for the vid have Rosé in lavender ruffled number from Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2020 couture collection

6.Casual Glam

Now this is one style inspo you can definitely pull off down the street. The singer rocked a ragged Re/Done graphic shirt paired with black high-waisted shorts.

Of course, she has to glam it up with a feathery statement coat from South Korean brand ANDTHEOTHER.

7.The Black and White Rosés

The Rosé in black ensemble dons a super wide brimmed hat (wonder if this is a nod to Titanic’s fashion queen also named Rose? Lol JK), while the white Rosé‘s are in a Mihano Momosa mini-dress with a large central piece rose detail.

Heavenly chic.

8.Romantic by the Piano

This is my personal favorite scene in the video: sad Rosé playing the piano wearing a casual softy cropped cardigan, denim cut-off shorts, and a t-shirt, maybe being introspective as she talks to high fashion Rosé. The Rosé in couture is prolly singing, “Look at me, I’m never coming down…”

9.Flower Power

Another ethereal number from Haleia is this pink ruffled mini dress that Rosé floats in atop a flower farm. The K-Pop superstar is certainly breathtaking.

She also wears triple drop earrings by Tiffany & Co.
